“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Reed

  • Margaret Reed quote is quite true because most opportunities that Americans have were started by committed citizens and their protest. Some people i can say that is a strong example of this quote is Martin Luther King Jr., Mahatma Gandhi, & Jesus's Apostles just to name three.
  • I think that the people's voices are news and that we don't hear enough of them, and this should change. We hear to much from the president whether what he says are truths or lies. All voices no matter who they are should be heard and be as important as people in power.
  • The people should be responsible for their own voting right but i believe it's not this way. The government has more control over voting than the citizens now. For one they claim or make a innocent citizen is a convict and they have lost their right to vote because of their skin color because they know who they would vote for, but of course the people's choice of vote does not compensate with the government's idea or way they want it to be.

Johne' you have great thoughts! I agree that there are some historical examples as to the influence of individuals regarding change. I wonder who the history books will write about from your generation...maybe you?

I think that you are right when you say that people's voices are important and should be heard. How do we make sure that all voices are honored in our society? How do we get ordinary people's voices understood and listened to as much as high profile people? What is the government's role in that? Do they even have a role?

I am not sure that I understand what you mean when you say people are responsible for their own voting rights. The federal government stepped in and expanded voting rights for groups of people by ratifying Amendments. Was this wrong? Would another way have been more effective? Should the government have any role in protecting rights?

Keep thinking Johne' you are on to some great ideas!
